After flooding the Indian roads with diesel vehicles, manufacturers are now adding petrol variant to their lineup. This shift in the approach is mainly evident after the diesel ban that was imposed in Delhi-NCR for over eight months. Now, even though the ban is lifted, customers are still hesitating to go for a diesel vehicle.
Mercedes was one of the manufacturers that were badly hit during the diesel ban. The German automaker approached the Supreme Court with a plea to sell diesel-powered cars. In exchange, it agreed to pay an environmental cess on the sale of every diesel car sold.
Now, Mercedes-Benz has decided to offer petrol engine across its complete line-up in India. Today, the company launched its GLS 400 4Matic SUV in the country. With the addition of this 7-seater SUV, the luxury carmaker has completed its petrol portfolio in India. The GLS 400 4Matic has been priced at Rs 82.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The GLS 400 4Matic comes loaded with host of driving aids like electronic all-wheel drive traction system, Electronic Stability Programme, Dynamic Select with five driving modes. Accompanying this is gadgetry like panoramic sun-roof and 14-speaker Harman Kardon music system.
